If you’ve seen Hayden Panettiere lately, you may have noticed she’s turned in her signature blonde locks for red! So what’s the deal behind the ginger ‘do? Hayden says she needed the change.

The Heroes star turned up to the Temple Grandin premiere in New York earlier in the week and told People the reason was “Because I could, because I was done with the season.

Hayden continued, “I was like, ‘I need to change, I need to get myself out of this slot. I don’t feel like a blonde right now!’”

Hayden even had her stylist touch up her brows as well! “I hope they match,” she said, continuing, “Eyebrows very much frame the face.”

And it sounds like this is just the beginning of Hayden’s experimentation with hair color. She said, “I was going to go dark. And then I decided to go red first — and then dark.”

She can definitely pull off the look. We love her as a blonde, but everyone needs to change it up every once in a while! What do you think of Hayden’s decision to go ginger?

Heroes starlet Hayden Panettiere, 20, may appear to live the Hollywood glam life but even she has boy problems! When we ran into her at the premiere of HBO’s new film Temple Grandin she told us she doesn’t have the perfect love life — she actually spent one Valentine’s Day alone! “My worst Valentine’s Day was after a very big breakup I went through,” the actress admitted. “I spent my Valentine’s Day at Birds this restaurant [in NYC] and they have this anti-Valentine’s Day party.” Hmm were wondering which breakup you were suffering from … was it your ex BF Stephen Colletti, or ex BF and co-star Milo Ventimiglia?!

But here’s the icing on the cake — At the party they had a big voodoo doll where all of the girls could write mean notes about their ex BF’s and stick it into the doll. “All you ever want to know is that you’re not the only person going through it,” she said. “So seeing all of the notes of ‘I hate him, he hates my dog’ things like that were very uplifting — which sounds horrible, but it was all I wanted at that moment.

Heroes beauty Hayden Panettiere has said she changed her hair colour because she was 'tired of being a blonde'. The 20-year-old star recently showed off her new red-head hairdo and was asked why she made the change.

She said: 'Because I could! I was tired of being a blonde and being... you get stuck in one thing and known for one thing and as a cheerleader or whatever that image.'Panettiere added: 'It's fun to change things up, and I feel I don't have to overcompensate as much personality-wise when I have red hair as I do with blonde hair.'

Why'd Hayden Panettiere ditch her blonde 'do to become a redhead?

"Because I could!" the Heroes star, 21, told UsMagazine at the NYC premiere of Temple Grandin Tuesday night. "I was tired of being a blonde and being... you get stuck in one thing and known for one thing and as a cheerleader or whatever that image."Continues Panettiere,"It's fun to change things up, and I feel I don't have to overcompensate as much personality-wise when I have red hair as I do with blonde hair."

Panettiere says the new look suits her better. "I'm typically a very fiery person anyway, but I just feel like cute and blonde and little is just so one category and one thing and changing my hair color, I feel like I don't have to overcompensate so much for the fact that I don't like being called cute or anything like that -- especially being all 5-foot-2 of me," she told Us.The actress also told Us that she shrugs off criticism for dating older men. (She split from Milo Ventimiglia, 32, in last February, and is currently cozying up to boxer Wladimir Klitschko, 33.)"It just happens to be the people that I'm drawn to, and you go, 'How old are you?' And then it's like 'Typical!'" she said while laughing. "It's just a number and it's just on a birth certificate and whoever it may be, older, younger, blonde, brunette...."

She’s no stranger to the world of swanky premieres, and last night (January 26)  Hayden Panettiere was spotted at the HBO event for “Temple Grandin” in New York City. The “I Love You Beth Cooper” babe looked lovely as she arrived, sporting her new darker locks along with a wispy off-the-shoulder dress with beige heels.

“Temple Grandin” is a biopic of Temple Grandin, an autistic woman who has become one of top scientists in humane livestock handling. Set to release on HBO on February 6th, “Temple Grandin” stars Claire Danes, Julia Ormond, Catherine O’Hara, and David Strathairm.

Once one of TV's can't-miss shows, Heroes has gotten so bad that even the beautiful Hayden Panettiere can't convince us to tune in. Just utter absurdity. Still, we can admire her style. The actress, who's now dating Wladimir Klitschko, recently added fullness to a skirt with some gentle draping on the hips.

The couple spent the New Year in Florida and Hayden reportedly postponed her flight back home to Los Angeles twice this month after she couldn't bear to be parted from her new love. In contrast to the skimpy bikinis she has been wearing in recent weeks, the TV star wrapped up warm in a pair of jeans, leather jacket and fringed sheepskin boots.
