We’re going to reassert our prediction of a few years ago: Hayden Panettiere is just two Oscars (and maybe one regrettable antiaircraft photo shoot) short of being the Jane Fonda of Generation Y. The 22-year-old starlet not only scored a White House meeting on the save-the-whales issue, as we reported last week — she stuck around long enough to have Friday declared “Hayden Panettiere Day” in the District of Columbia, in thanks for her support of statehood. In his proclamation, Mayor Vincent C. Gray hailed the former “Heroes” star for raising “awareness among a new generation of our unique and unjust plight.” Later that night, she resumed normal starlet activities, showing up at a fancy party at Lima nightclub downtown.
